Is there a unique project that stands out for you?

One project that stands out for me is a basement renovation that truly changed the way that our clients spend time in their home. Before Sunnyfields renovated this client’s basement, it was dark and cramped space that was only used for storage. With careful space planning, walls were removed to create a larger space, including a wall of custom oak cabinetry with a wet bar, a beautiful bathroom, a TV hangout area, and an open play area for their young son. Not only did the family gain this new space to relax, they now have full use of their dining room which is no longer their son’s playroom. The client has repeatedly mentioned how often they use the new space which is a great compliment.

What matters most when crafting a new space?

I’ve always put a lot of thought into the spaces that I’ve lived in. As a little girl, I’d rearrange furniture after school or ask to paint a room for fun. Luckily, my parents let me, and I’ve continued to be interested in the creation of spaces in the home. I believe that design can make you feel content and at ease. Spaces that are memorable, are powerful – rooms with details that you notice – good lighting, interesting woodwork, and thoughtful use of color and pattern, both bold and muted, come to mind. Spcifically, I focus on places make you want to come back over and over again; rooms that make you want spend time in them to create memories.
