A little slice of spa-like paradise! The goal of this remodel was to breathe fresh, airy life into a formerly cramped and disjointed master bath. The hard work involved paid off when the remodel earned the Remodeller Council of Maryland Grand Award 2018.The owners of the home wanted a large master bath suite with a tub and two-person shower as well as a separate water closet. The original owner of the home, who was an architect, developed a remodel plan that required the addition of extra square footage to the existing blueprint. Uncertain whether these plans achieved their goals, the new homeowners turned to Sunnyfields Cabinetry and Delbert Adams Construction Group so they could reevaluate the space. After some deliberation, it was decided that the space could accommodate the homeowner’s goals without a need for an addition. Sunnyfields got to work revamping the space to feel larger, brighter and more luxurious. In order to make the space feel larger, the Sunnyfields Design Manager developed a solution to add a clear story above the master bedroom, bath and closet area. These heightened ceilings, a simple yet creative design change, allowed more natural light into the space and provided a lofty feel to the master bath.
This renovated space was well thought out and as per the owner’s wishes, incorporates an aging-in-place aspect for their longevity in their house. The remodel exemplifies beauty and function and yet, there are undetected slightly wider doorways, a glamourous and spacious barrier-free shower and outstanding teak tub surround, allowing the owners to swing their legs in from a seated position, if eventually necessary. Other features of note include the custom double vanity and walk-in closet fitted out with custom cabinet wardrobes.
This project was a thoughtful exercise in maximizing a small space, and the end result is luxurious yet practical, perfect for a master bath suite. It is everything the owner’s hoped of the new space! Want to learn more about this project or how you can bring your vision to life? Please visit Sunnyfields Cabinetry for more information.
